VehicleScore® starts with a free report that includes MOT, tax, mileage, vehicle details and a /999 score. Hidden History then adds finance, stolen, write-off and salvage records, including salvage images where we hold them.
This page uses Total Car Check’s official prices and support pages. It does not use the on-page Silver/Gold tick table, which did not render as a reliable source.

What Total Car Check offers
- A free vehicle check for identity, MOT status and pre-purchase indicators. Official support says the free check includes a stolen vehicle check, specification, keeper information and MOT mileage for registered users.
- A Silver check at £3.99, or five for £9.99 (£1.99 each). Official support says Silver adds key risk data such as write-off, scrapped or salvage, and is for shortlisting rather than a purchase decision.
- A Gold check at £9.99, or three for £14.99, or five for £19.99. Official support says Gold adds outstanding finance and a valuation.
- Vouchers that official pages say expire after two years.
- Official support recommends Gold if you are buying, because that is the product that includes the finance check.

Silver and Gold are different products
Total Car Check splits risk data (Silver) from finance (Gold). VehicleScore®’s paid history product is a single Hidden History report that includes finance, write-off, stolen and salvage when those records exist.
Pack pricing is structured differently
Total Car Check’s consumer Gold packs are 3 for £14.99 and 5 for £19.99. VehicleScore® consumer packs are 2 for £16.95, 3 for £19.95, 5 for £25.95. Compare like with like: one full history report versus one Gold check.
Free VehicleScore® vs Hidden History
Enter a UK registration to open the free dashboard. You see MOT history, tax or SORN, the MOT mileage timeline, vehicle details and a VehicleScore® out of 999.
Hidden History is the paid report. Depending on the records held for that registration, it can include outstanding finance, stolen markers, insurance write-off category, salvage auction history and images, VIN confirmation, colour and plate changes, previous keeper count, import or export flags, and a market valuation.
Service History is a separate product, currently £8.95. It is not included in Hidden History. See the service history check.
What the VehicleScore® /999 means
The free score is VehicleScore®’s own rating. It is not an MOT result and it is not a finance clearance. Use it to compare similar cars, then open Hidden History when you are close to buying.
